Dear Photo students,
Welcome back!
It’s great to finally start to see familiar faces (or at least portions of faces!) after our abrupt switch to online last spring. If you’ve had a class in the Photo Area this week, you’ve no doubt seen the dramatic changes to the Lower Atrium gallery (with new lights!). Construction began in May, and it made for a messy summer and we really only gained access to Photo last week so we’ve been working feverishly to clean up from the spring semester and get up and running for fall. When you see Jille, please be sure to thank her for all that she has been doing. If you haven’t been in the photo area yet, pause in the atrium to look around and see what has been accomplished. There’s still more work to be done as we’ll be getting a glass entrance and doors.
You’ll also notice other changes in school which you’ve no doubt been hearing about for weeks; your schedules are different, how you access things is different, the number of people in any one area is very different, and the way we interact is now different. You’ll see hand gel and wipes all around, and of course we all have to social distance at all times and wear masks. The photo faculty and staff have been working extraordinarily hard all summer long to prepare for the best possible educational experience whether that’s online or in person. I ask that you please do all that you can, individually and collectively, to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and keep each other safe and healthy, and to insure that we can continue to access our classrooms and studios. Our spaces have maximum occupancy signs and designated zones for working. For everyone's sake, please follow the guidelines as established.
Soon, we’ll be sharing and open lab schedule and the method for how you’ll be able access the photo area. There’s a school wide reservation system that’s still being polished. As soon as it’s ready, we’ll let everyone know, and offer some form of a tutorial.
